The strength of the visitors told though and goals from David Hadrava, Lloyd Opara and Ben Cranfield but United 3-1 ahead shortly before the break. A neat chip from John-Paul Kelly reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time and Matty Warner finished with style nine minutes into the second period to level the scores. However, Wycombe conceded again just a minute later when Cranfield got the better of Ryan Parsons down the United right before beating Tom Gott in the Wycombe goal. Gott was later replaced in goal by defender Stuart Hole after the flu got the better of the Wycombe 'keeper but despite pushing forward in the closing stages, Wycombe couldn't force a deserved equaliser.
