Football League Youth Alliance
John-Paul Kelly against ColchesterWanderers' Under 19 Youth side went down 4-3 to Colchester United in atrocious conditions at Molins Sports Ground on Saturday morning. It was always going to be a tough test against a Colchester United side unbeaten in 13 Football League Alliance fixtures this season however it was Wanderers who opened the scoring on nine minutes when Marc Leach slotted home from 20 yards just right of centre.
The strength of the visitors told though and goals from David Hadrava, Lloyd Opara and Ben Cranfield but United 3-1 ahead shortly before the break. A neat chip from John-Paul Kelly reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time and Matty Warner finished with style nine minutes into the second period to level the scores.
However, Wycombe conceded again just a minute later when Cranfield got the better of Ryan Parsons down the United right before beating Tom Gott in the Wycombe goal. Gott was later replaced in goal by defender Stuart Hole after the flu got the better of the Wycombe 'keeper but despite pushing forward in the closing stages, Wycombe couldn't force a deserved equaliser.
