![]() The visitors were on top from the start and it was Lee Mills who did the damage with a goal in each half. Mills had earned an early booking for a foul on Martyn Lee before going close shortly afterwards but Mark Osborn saved well in the Wycombe goal. Osborn was on hand again to deny Thomas Thogersen before Wycombe almost snatched a surprise lead when Leeyon Phelan glanced Lee's cross just wide. Lee, along with Osborn were Wycombe's star players, while on loan Aston Villa striker Richard Walker showed a few nice touches but seemed to lack match fitness. Dave Carroll played at right-back for the majority of the game with Ben Townsend continuing his return from injury on the opposite flank. Pompey's pressure finally paid off six minutes before the break when they broke from a Wycombe corner and Mills slotted past Osborn after on-loan Monnaco midfielder Uliano Courville had played him in with a delightful through ball. Five minutes into the second-half Stewart Castledine saw three chances in quick succession go begging. First he saw a shot tipped over by Chris Tardif in the Pompey goal and from the resulting corner he headed wide when scoring looked easier. The trio of efforts was completed moments later when the ex-Dons man headed down and over the crossbar from another corner. To ensure that Castledine didn't feel left out from the catalogue of missed chances, Jermaine McSporran fired high and wide of the Hillbottom Road end goal following a lapse in the Pompey defence. Pompey regained control of the game in the 68th minute when Rowan Vine's effort was saved by Osborn but Mills was on hand to tuck in the rebound. Then as Wycombe lost touch, Vine sealed Wycombe's fate with a goal of his own with six minutes left on the clock. Final Score Wycombe 0 Portsmouth 3
