The other triallists were right back Scott Hensall (25 year old Australian), left back Sam Sloma (19 year old from Wimbledon), diminutive striker Kevin Charley (from Atherstone) and Vinnie John (26 year old six foot striker from Bishops Stortford but previously at Grays, Dagenham, Romford and originally at Wimbledon). Millwall fielded a fairly inexperienced side and Wanderers took the lead in the 5th minute when Stuart Roberts delivered a corner from left and Ian Simpemba was lurking at the back edge of the penalty area to head home. Wycombe continued to dominate and made it 2-0 on 25 minutes when Paul Emblen, in most likely his last game in a Wycombe shirt, swung the ball in from the right for Spencer to send a powerful header past Paul Murphy in The Lions goal. Three minutes later it was 3-0 when Jones clipped the ball down the right wing for Spencer to run onto and clip the ball over the advancing Murphy. Stewart Castledine should have done better with a close range header before the break and Spencer will have been disappointed not to have completed a first half hat-trick when he blasted over from around eight yards. The visitors struck the woodwork on 58 minutes as they enjoyed a brief spell of pressure but Spencer completed his hat-trick on 74 minutes when he latched onto another through-ball before pushing the ball past Murphy from six yards. Millwall scored a consolation goal direct from the re-start when Kevin Braniff was allowed too much space on the left before he slotted the ball under Mark Osborn in the Wycombe goal. Final Score Wycombe 4 Millwall 1
