WANDERERS JOIN JACKSON INTEREST (Thursday 26th July 2001) Lawrie Sanchez has made an official approach for Norwich City centre-back Matt Jackson according to the Eastern Daily Press. The Wanderers have joined Luton Town and Cambridge United in moves for the 29-year-old Leeds born defender. Jackson is out of favour with the First Division club and Canaries boss Nigel Worthington said "I have passed the offer from Wycombe on to 'Jacko' and we will see what happens" Jackson is available on a free transfer but the former Everton FA Cup winner will have to accept a massive drop in wages to come to Wycombe but Worthington has warned Johnson not to wait too long in finding another club. "At the minute those three clubs are his only options and it depends how much he wants to play football" added the City manager. Jackson is a former Luton Town trainee who moved to Everton in 1991 in a £600,000 deal. A five year spell at Goodison Park ended in December 1996 when he moved to Carrow Road for £450,000. The 6'1" defender has also had loan spells with Preston, Charlton, QPR and Birmingham. His League career shows close to 350 appearances but with a return of just 10 goals. Last season he made 26 League appearances for The Canaries. Read all the latest Wycombe news from www.chairboys.co.uk Get news on The Chairboys via our SMS service. Sign up now. |
