SANCH EYES HAYES STRIKER (Friday 23rd November 2001) Lawrie Sanchez says he is keeping tabs on Hayes striker Kevin Warner. The 22 year old impressed the Wycombe boss in the recent FA Cup clash, scoring the goal to make it 1-1 and then delivering the corner for brother Dave to head home to bring the score back to 4-3. Warner, whose goal against Wycombe was his first of the season, only joined the Middlesex side at the start of the season. Commenting on the Hayes side, Sanchez told the Bucks Free Press "They had one or two players who weren't bad and I'd been keen to see how they progress" ![]() Lawrie Sanchez saw the benefit of loaning out 'keeper Mark Osborn last season and is hoping a similar move could benefit Phelan. "Playing against men, week in, week out, is good for the younger players and lets them grow up," Sanchez told the BFP. Phelan has made four substitute appearances for the Wanderers' First Team and made his full debut in the LDV tie at Brighton. Last season Phelan finished top scorer for the Reserves and the Youth Team with seven and fourteen goals respectively. Click here to read all the latest Wycombe news |
