BRIGHTER NIGHTS AT ADAMS PARK (Wednesday 22nd August 2001)
Wycombe turned on their newly upgraded floodlights for the first time against Bristol Rovers. The new lights meet Division One standards but it was Third Division Rovers in their emergency dayglo orange kit who were left shining at the final whistle. The match referee insisted on Rovers changing because their home (white and blue quarters) and away (grey and black) kits clashed with Wanderers light and dark blue. However, Rovers say they have no plans to wear it again or sell a replica version.

Wanderers new lights cost in the region of £40,000 and it's thought that the Club were able to attract a grant of between 50 and 80% from The Football Foundation for the upgrade which has raised the LUX value to an initial figure of 600. The previous lights had fallen to a figure of just 369, just above the Division Two minimum of 350. The new lights should be able to maintain the Division One minimum of 500 LUX for an estimated five years and it's also hoped that TV companies will be more willing to choose Adams Park to broadcast live games. Indeed, Wycombe have already been choosen for International coverage when England Under 16's take on Wales Under 16's in the Victory Shield. The game will take place on Friday 2nd November 2001, kick off 7.30pm at Adams Park and be broadcast live on SKY TV.
