SEATING FEARS EASED
(Thursday 13th September 2001) Wycombe officials have eased fans fears that the Valley End terrace has been earmarked for seating. Valley End regulars raised concerns after the extension of the 'away end' had prompted comments from some quarters that a similar plan was lined-up for the home terrace. Director Mike Greatwood told supporters at a recent Fans Forum "What we've not done is strongly deny it enough. But it's just not on our agenda". Under present legislation the Club would have three complete seasons playing at Division One or higher to convert to an 'all-seater' venue. However, Greatwood said he plans to meet with a Premier League representative to gain more information on their 'Safe Standing' project. Football Club Secretary Keith Allen added "As long as we can, standing up will remain" The Club have also revealed that they are close to announcing a partial solution to the egress problems from Adams Park. The Club are aware that the time taken to drive away from the ground after games could be having a negative effect on attendances. Greatwood said "We are expecting a significant improvement, maybe up to 50% time improvement." He added "In terms of the longer term, building access roads and so on, we're carrying on the process but there's other parties involved" Click here to read all the latest Wycombe news |
