AWAY-END
EXTENSION
SUMMER 2001 |
Work on
the extension to the 'away end' at Adams Park started during May. The 12 week programme of work will see the capacity of the Hillbottom
Road end stand raised from 1,047 to
2,026 with the existing tier increased from 8 rows to 16 rows.Click here for picture

The 'away end' extension at Adams Park is being carried out by Barr
Construction of Ayr, the same company who are involved in the rebuilding of
Bournemouth's Dean Court ground. The stand will be doubled in capacity to
2,000 by removing the existing roof and extending back the existing rows of
seats. The newly extended single rake of seats will be supported by steel pillars that will allow limited parking and storage access underneath. Work is
due to finish before the The Football League season starts on Saturday 11th
August but Wycombe have applied to the Football League for an away fixture
on the opening day just in case.
The project is being assisted by a £285,000 grant from the Football
Foundation with the Club likely to need an further estimated £100,000 to
complete the project. Other improvements
to Adams Park over the summer include raising the standard of the floodlights
to a LUX value of 506, which is a brightness on par with First Division clubs.
Chairboys on the Net will be keeping an eye on progress to the new 'away
stand' and uploading regular photo updates throughout the summer. Click here
