WORTHINGTON
CUP 2nd ROUND WANDERERS MEET BIRMINGHAM (Wednesday 6th September 2000) Wycombe will meet Birmingham City in the 2nd Round of the Worthington Cup. The ties will be played the weeks commencing 18th and 25th September with The Wanderers having home advantage in the first game. Wycombe have only met Birmingham twice before in competitive football and that was in the 1994/95 season where a Cyrille Regis goal gave Wycombe a shock win at St Andrews early in the season. However, City got their revenge later in the season with a 3-0 victory at Adams Park as the midlands Club stormed to promotion back to Division One. The tie will also see a battle of the wits between SKY sports presenters Alan Parry (Director at Wycombe Wanderers) and Trevor Francis (City's current Manager). The First leg will be at Adams Park on Tuesday 19th September with the return at St Andrews the following Tuesday. After reducing prices for the First Round game with Barnet, Wycombe have reverted back to normal League prices for this game, while Birmingham are offering a special £5 entrance charge to their all-seater stadium.
