ONdigital ANNOUNCE NEW TV PLANS
(Thursday 19th April 2001)
More TV spotlight for Wycombe - picture Paul Lewis Wycombe should enjoy more TV exposure next season as part of the new deal between the Football League and ONdigital. The Digital TV operators went public with their plans this week that will see over 80 Nationwide Football League games shown live and the introduction of several dedicated TV shows. This will include a Saturday night 'Match of the Day' style programme plus, according to ONdigital, "tailored second and third division highlights shows that will not simply show the goals scored but also highlights, analysis and interviews with the people that matter." Live games will be shown on Sunday evening's plus, what could be an awkward Thursday evening slot.
The joint ONdigital/ITV deal will be worth £315m in total to Football League clubs over the three year term. This is around four times the amount of previous TV sponsorship deals and Wycombe Officials were said to be very enthusiastic about the deal following a presentation made by ONdigital during the first week of April. Wycombe have already received their first cheque from the deal.
