Background:
Came through the youth team system at Newcastle United - originally joining at the age of 7 before eventually signing his first professional deal in 2019, aged 18. Failed to make any First Team appearances for United during the 2019/20 campaign and was subsequently loaned to League Two Tranmere Rovers in October 2020 where he made his senior debut amongst a five game loan spell.

After making three appearances for the Newcastle United U23's in the Football League Trophy during the opening half of the 2021/22 season, the now 21-year-old joined Wycombe on 31st January 2022 in a loan deal for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

After scoring a stunning goal in a Berks & Bucks Senior Cup against Long Crendon, he then made his First Team debut for Wycombe when he came on as substitute in the League One game at Crewe on 5th March 2022. A further substitute appearance came in the home game with Fleetwood on 15th March 2022 before, amid speculation he was to be recalled by United, a permanent three-year deal with Wycombe was announced on 4th April 2022. Commenting on the deal, Wanderers Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: "Jack's really impressed us, since the day he arrived, and we're delighted to have him on board on a permanent basis. He was brought to our attention by our recruitment team earlier in the season and we were really pleased to have the chance to take a look at him during his loan deal. Every time he's gone out there to train or play in matches, he's given 100% and showed real quality, so it's fantastic to have him here for the next three years and we're looking forward to helping him unlock more of his potential."

Young would make six further First Team appearances for Wanderers in the 2022/23 season (1 League, 2 League Cup and 3 Football League Trophy). At the start of the 2023/24 campaign he was loaned to Scottish Championship (2nd tier) club Ayr United for a deal running until January 2024. He quickly became a regular in their squad - making 19 First Team appearances before returning to Adams Park in January 2024 in the wake of the departure of Ayr Manager Lee Bullen - who was sacked with his team one place from the bottom of the table.

At the time of his return to Wycombe, his involvement in the First Team remained uncertain, with a further loan deal looking the most likely outcome. On 16th February he was subsequently loaned out to National League side Wealdstone for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign, making 12 appearances for the West London outfit.

On 10th October 2024 it was announced that Young had been loaned to National League side, Dorking Wanderers, on an initial deal lasting until early January 2025.
