Wycombe announced on Friday 17th September 2021 the signing of 19-year-old former Leicester City 'defensive midfielder' Adam Leathers. The youngster had been released by the Premier League side in the summer of 2021 and had spent time on a trial at Wycombe, impressing enough in a 'behind closed doors' friendly with Maidenhead United to earn his chance at Adams Park. He had been a regular in The Foxes U23 side - gaining his first senior appearance in a Football League Trophy meeting with Grimsby Town during the 2020/21 season. He was allocated No.24 in the Wanderers squad. Wanderers Development squad coach Sam Grace said at the time of signing: "Adam has worked hard in his trial period with us and earned the opportunity to develop his game with us even further. Thanks to the backing we’ve received from the board and the management staff of the club, we’ve been able to make great progress with the development squad in a short time, attracting more and more talented young players to the club." During his first season with Wycombe he made one senior appearance (at home to Burton Albion in the Football League Trophy in November 2021).
