Background:
The Ireland international signed for Wycombe Wanderers on Wednesday 2nd September 2020 on a two-year deal from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian. The 28 year-old had netted 10 goals in 80 appearances for Hibs in two seasons having moved from Preston North End in August 2018. Horgan scored in PNE's 5-1 win against Wycombe at Adams Park in a FA Cup Third Round tie in January 2018. Having been contracted with Hibs until 2021, a fee for the move was described as 'undisclosed' by the Scottish club but was subsequently reported to be in the region of £50,000. He was allocated No.17 in the Wanderers squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

Commenting at the time of the deal, Wycombe Wanderers Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: "“Daryl is someone we’ve kept an eye on ever since he put in that outstanding performance against us [for Preston] and we believe he’s ideally suited to the way we play. He’s quick, he’s direct, he loves to run at the defence and he’s got a strong goal threat in terms of scoring and creating chances for his team-mates. I’m excited to see what he can do for us and his arrival gives us extra firepower going forward as we look forward to starting on the front foot in the Championship in 10 days’ time.”

On his arrival at Wycombe, Horgan had represented his country at under-19 and under-21 level. In November 2016, he earned his first call-up to the senior squad for a 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Austria. He made his full international debut in March 2017. Subsequent to his arrival at Wycombe he earned further international caps, with five more appearances, including UEFA Nations League qualifying games versus Wales, Finland, plus a friendly appearance versus England at Wembley in November 2020.

In May 2022, the Club confirmed that an one year extension clause in his contract had been triggered, with the new deal now running until June 2023.

Having struggled to hold down a regular First Team spot during his first two seasons at Wycombe, on 5th January 2023 it was announced that the then 30-year-old had joined League Two prompotion contenders, Stevenage, on a loan deal until the end of the 2022/23 campaign. The move followed rumours in December 2022 that he had been approached by former club Dundalk with a view to returning to play in Ireland. With his contract at Wycombe due to expire in June 2023, the loan move to Stevenage makes it highly likely he has played his final game in a Wycombe shirt.

On 10th May 2023 it was confirmed by Wycombe Wanderers that Horgan would be released following the expiration of his contract at the end of June 2023. He left Wycombe with a playing record of 101 First Team appearances and 3 goals.
