Career summary at Wycombe:
2020/21 is first season at Wycombe
Signed for Wanderers on Wednesday 2nd September 2020 - the 28-year-old central defender signing for an undisclosed fee from Hull City. A former youth team player at Southampton, he made his break in professional football during a four year spell with Mansfield Town, being part of the team that gained promotion to the Football League in 2013 and eventually clocking up more than 100 appearances for The Stags. A three year stint at League One Peterborough United followed where he also broke the 100 appearance barrier and may be remembered by Wycombe fans for scoring an own-goal for Posh against the Wanderers in a League One match at London Road in March 2019. The 6'5" player signed for Hull City in July 2019 on a two-year deal and featured in 19 First Team games for The Tigers in a season they were relegated from the Championship. He was allocated the No.6 in the Wanderers squad.
Commenting at the time of the signing, Wycombe Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “We’ve come up against Ryan many times down the years and he’s always been a strong, commanding presence in any defence we’ve faced, and also a real threat from our set-pieces with his height and heading ability. Our defence was the bedrock for our success last season and he’ll add real competition for places and give us another option with lots of games coming thick and fast. I’ve been working hard all summer on bringing Ryan to the club and I’m delighted it’s paid off.”
