WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
The following is a list of most of the players who have left the Club since
we moved to Adams Park. We've managed to trace the whereabouts of many of the
names good, bad or downright rubbish since we've moved to Adams Park. It's
surprising just how many names have pasted through our doors since 1990, if you
can fill in any missing info please let us know
CHUCK MOUSSADIK - The latest casuality of the Alan Smith power struggle.
Best remembered by Wycombe fans for his two heroic performances in goal
in the London Fives in 1994 and 1995. Kept out of the side in all but one
Football League game by Paul Hyde, but was not in Smith's plans when Hyde
was dropped and was quickly dismissed by the Manager. Current club unknown
STEVE THOMPSON - Inspired midfielder who joined the Blues from Slough Town in
February 1992. Best memory - goals against West Brom in the FA Cup and Runcorn
and Preston in Wembley finals, Now at Woking
TONY HEMMINGS - Made the jump to League football from non-League
Northwich Victoria, but despite the occasional flair (noteably Crewe at
home), failed to live up to expectations. Left in the summer of 1995 after
a drink driving charge was made public. Now at Macclesfield.
SIMON HUTCHINSON - Despite looking quite lively on several occasions during
his non-League days with Wycombe, failed to make the step up to Football
League standard. Was Martin O'Neill's first money signing - £7,000 from
Eastwood Town in August 1990. Left in the summer of 1995 to team up with
Tony Hemmings at Macclesfield
GLYN CREASER - Joined Wycombe in September 1988 after punching out Mark West
whilst playing for Barnet. Became Club Captain and made over 200 appearances
for Wycombe during the Martin O'Neill years. Released by Alan Smith at the
start of this season following a good offer from Rushden & Diamonds.
CYRILLE REGIS - Spent the 94/95 season with Wycombe, but after a good
start, failed to regain his goal scoring touch. Usually paired with Simon Garner
whilst at Wycombe as the oldest striker duo in the Football League. Currently
playing at Chester City
DAVID TITTERTON - Spent most of the 93/94 season at Wycombe following a move
from Hereford United. Scored an emotional goal at Colchester United in March
94 and was an important part of the play-off games at the end of that season.
Left the club last season.
NICKY REID - Ex-Manchester City and Blackburn defender who didn't play many
games whilst with Wycombe, but as he kept reminding Martin O'Neill the
games he did play we won, including the play-off games of 93/94.
TIM LANGFORD - Signed by Wycombe in March 1993 from Telford United. Mainly used
by O'Neill as cover for his first choice forwards but made several League
appearances in 93/94. Released by O'Neill at the end of 94/95 and has since
returned to Telford.
STEVE GUPPY - First played for Wycombe as long ago as 1989. His £125,000
move to Newcastle United in August 94 left a rather sour taste with allegations of
underhand dealings by agents. Failed to make any impression with Kegan at St
James Park and moved to Port Vale later the same season
HAYKIN HAYRETTIN - Barnet's financial problems in Mrach 1993 saw 'Hacky' join
the Chairboys. Also stayed with Wycombe during the first part of the 93/94 season.
Well liked by Wycombe fans and best remembered for a classic 25 yard last minute
winner at Preston in November 1993. Left the Club in February 1994 and last seen
playing for Cambridge United.
GEOFF COOPER Signed at the same time and for the reason as Hayrettin and made
enough impression to win a place in the 1993 FA Trophy Final. Did not appear in
O'Neill's plans in the Football League, however, and left to return to Barnet in
February 94
ANDY KERR - Extravert character at Adams Park who O'Neill inherited when he took
charge in 1990. Hit his purple patch during 92/93 but didn't appear to see eye
to eye with O'Neill and left the Club in early 1994 for Enfield. Can also be
heard on local radio where he fancies himself as a DJ.
KIM CASEY - Legendary non-League player who joined Wycombe for the Double season
of 92/93. A little prone to injury bit was a class above the rest when it came
to skill. Released by O'Neill when we joined the League and has since returned
to his beloved Kidderminster Harriers - and he's STILL scoring.
MARK WEST - Thee 'Local Hero' and best remembered for the classic winning goal
in the 1991 FA Trophy Final. Scored a hat full of goal for the Wanderers but
didn't really fit in with O'Neill's plans in the Football League and left for
local rivals Slough Town in the summer of 1994.
KEITH SCOTT - When's Scotty coming back? Oh we wish. There's never been a more
prolific scorer since our move to Adams Park and he's still not yet been
replaced. Originally joined Wycombe in early 1991 after a failed League career
with Lincoln City. O'Neill gave him the chance to return to League football
in November 1993 when he joined Premier League Swindon has since moved onto
Stoke and before being signed by O'Neill during his short stay at Norwich.
TY GOODEN Looked a good young prospect when he signed at the start of the
91/92 season but never gained a regular first team spot and was released at the end
of the 92/93 season. Has surprised many people by making it into the Swindon Town
first team.
NICKY EVANS - Class player who was a hero at Barnet before joining Wycombe in
March 1989. Injury prevent Evans from making too many appearances for Wycombe,
but he was inspirational especially when used with Mark West. A dispute with
O'Neill in 1991 saw Evans return to his beloved Barnet
DENNIS GREENE - Really getting down to the dregs now. Quite a big signing
when he moved from Chelmsford to Adams Park in March 1992 and also managed to
score 4 goals away from home during a victory at Altrincham. Appeared to lose
all ability as a footballer during the next season and thought he could become
a stand-up comedian on the London circuit. O'Neill got shot of him shortly
afterwards - last reports of him playing were with Dagenham and Redbridge
MICKEY NUTTELL - Somehow gained the nickname of 'Mary', although I can't
remember how. Really thought he was something good but was more interested in
his hair style than playing football. Originally joined Wycombe in January
1991 but was disposed by October of the same year. Also transferred to Dagenham
and Redbridge. Corby Town was the last reported sighting of the great one.
GARY SMITH - 'Bonecrusher' Smith joined Wycombe in January 1990 from Enfield
and was never far away from a suspension. Played his last game for Wycombe
against Witton Albion in the 91/92 Trophy quarter-final defeat.
MARTIN BLACKLER - A well liked player from the Loakes Park days and played a
number of significant games under Martin O'Neill at Adams Park. Sported a great
variety of hair styles whilst with Wycombe and remembered for scoring a great
goal against Peterborough in the FA Cup in 1990. Moved to Wealdstone and last
heard of playing for Trowbridge
JOHN GRANVILLE - Joined in January 1988 and the regular in the Wycombe goal in
our first season at Adams Park. Usually described as ex-Trinidad ad Tobago
international (and also made League appearances for Millwall). Catch phrase
"Get it away". Retired at the end of the 90/91 season but resurfaced at
Aldershot and has recently been playing for Chesham United.
ANDY ROBINSON - Joined from Carlisle at the start of the 1988/89 season and
went on to win player of the season. Never really hit it off with O'Neill and
left for Aylesbury in the summer of 1991.
LOAN PLAYERS - THE GOOD AND THE BAD
STUART CASH A loan signing from Nottingham Forest during the later part of
the 90/91 season and almost ever present for the Blues in the run-in to the
Trophy final with Kidderminster that season. Did not return the following season
and was last seen playing for Chesterfield
TREVOR AYLOTT - Signed by O'Neill on a short term loan from Gillingham during
the final weeks of the 1992/93. Managed to gain quite a reputation during his
few weeks at Adams Park - mainly for appearing to be the most useless player
ever to wear a Wycombe shirt at Adams Park. I'm told, however he did set up
a goal in the FA Trophy semi-final with Sutton. Also wore a head band just to
complete the image.
